One Word Film project

The One Word Film project was to create a film with a partner to express a given word. The film had to be a scene that could occur in real life between 60-90 seconds. It could include instrumental audio elements (without lyrics) and sound effects. Absolutely no dialogue was permitted. Each member had to edit separately on adobe premiere or iMovie and submit their project.

To complete this project, my partner and I began by brainstorming a realistic storyline displaying our assigned word “Hateful. We worked together and ultimately came up with an idea that we put into a brainstorming sheet. In brainstorming we put some major composition/angles/shots into the boxes with scene descriptions to use as a guide for the film.

We then created a storyboard for the brainstorming sheet which only included the shots/angles/composition although the storyboard includes simple drawings to help us visualize our story and therefore replicate in filming.

We utilized Adobe premiere as our editing resource which allowed us to create a smooth and clear film with plenty of sound elements/effects.

In this project the clips were put together smoothly, and the audio accurately created a better understanding of the film. In the next project I would like to use my time more wisely in order to have more filming time and options for the final project as well as to avoid any problems in editing like I faced. I would also like to learn how to do more advanced techniques and editing of clips/audio.

My first preliminary project

The camera shots quiz assessment was to choose 1-2 inanimate objects to create a visual story consisting of 15 shots. These shots had to include an establishing shot, long shot, two medium shots, two closeup shots, extreme closeup shot, point of view shot, high angle, and low angle.

I approached the development of my final product by planning out my story in a shot list where I wrote the shot types and a description of the content in that shot. My story consisted of a white eraser on a countertop far away and separated from a pink eraser, the story was the white erasers journey to reach the pink eraser. Since the story does not have dialogue, I used certain shots to portray the emotions of the story.

I think I did a good job of making a compelling and interesting story line although I could have made my story shorter and clearer. I could also work on taking shots more accurately to their specifications.
